Sunday 1st of January
If Hogmanay itself is not exhilarating enough for you come to South Queensferry the next day and take part in a parade and then ‘dook’ in the refreshing waters of the Firth of Forth. This annual event, involving thousands of people in fancy dress jumping in the cold sea, raises thousands of pounds for charity. Registration in advance is necessary for those brave enough to take part but supporters can watch the fun for free.
Dress appropriately – many of these activities are outdoors, it could be windy, wet or even snowy! Warm hats and sensible footwear are advised!
